Our HOA recently worked with Shifrin Legal to update our bylaws by adding language addressing short-term rentals, including Airbnb and similar vacation rental platforms. This review is based entirely on documented communications, certified mail, and written notices. Attorney Michael Shifrin was formally warned on March 4, 2026 — in writing — that our condo board was attempting to impose and collect an assessment that was never legally adopted under the Illinois Condominium Property Act. He received a full breakdown of statutory violations, including exceeding the 115% threshold under 765 ILCS 605/18(a)(8), which automatically triggers owner veto rights. This attorney Michael Shifrin does NOT do his due diligence and looks into things before he sends out letters or puts leans on properties, I highly DO NOT recommend him to anybody unless they wanna get a law suit against themselves and (or) the board and condo association. He does Not respond to emails (3+) or returns phone calls (10+) very unprofessional.. I give him -1 star (there is no way to give 0 or negative stars.)
