Albert G. Dickinson and his brother, H. Randel, established Dickinson Press, formerly known as Dickinson Brothers, in 1884 in Painesville, Ohio. In 1886 they moved the fledgling company to Grand Rapids, Mich. Determining the need for a new building, they selected the site immediately north of St. Mark s Episcopal Church on Division Avenue and completed their new 40,000 square foot building in 1908.
