So, my wife's 15 yr term policy expired 01/22. After being informed her premium was going up $600+ a month, we were advised to allow the policy to lapse by a representative and to look at switching over to a whole life policy w/out charge. My wife and I sat down w/ our agent, submitted the paperwork w/ a check to convert to the new whole life policy. Check was cashed 3/22. This company doesn’t work with you when it comes to the death of a loved one. My father passed and I don’t have any paperwork for the policy except that the payment comes directly from his bank account for payment. So upon his death I contacted them to see the value of the policy so I can have a budget toward funeral cost. Only claims can answer those questions but they don’t answer you have to leave a message and no direct number and they have up to 48 hours to return your call. I had a need to get a Loan on my Life Insurance Policy, so I contacted them. I spoke with a rep on the phone and requested a loan. I was mailed a form which I promptly filled up and signed, then mailed back using overnight mail. It has been over THREE WEEKS and I have not heard a word. You will have run around if you have a claim. My mom died some months ago. I have filed a complaint with the Texas Dept. Of Insurance. My mother paid in for thirty years. It’s a $5,000 policy for a funeral. They act like I’m trying to cheat them out of millions. She was 96 years old. I think this company is run by criminals.. I had the same responses as the woman who left a complaint here. They have been in receivership once. I would never use them again and suggest you stay away.

i have had a life insurance policy on my husband since 1999. He deceased on March 13, 2017. The funeral home informed Shenandoah Life of his death on March 14th I also contacted them mailed all requested documentation and required paper-work immediately. I contacted them on Friday, April 7, to check on the status of my claim, and was told that they had received all information, but that it would be an additional 15 to 20 days before they processed and mailed a check to me.
