This is a combination of three museums with something for everyone: the Shelburne County museum, the Dory shop and the Ross Thomson house and store museum. The Dory shop is an active museum With a builder on site showing how the boats are built. It shows the differences between the Shelburne and Lunenburg Dory’s (hint: is all about the knees). The other two museums showcase the old times. The combo is cheap and worth the money.
Great guided tour and interesting story
An amazing, colorful, historical waterfront, beautiful to stroll. But we arrived on the Friday evening of a summer long weekend, (August 2) only to find it closed all day Saturday (August 3), in prime tourist season.
Checked their website carefully before heading to shelburne and planned to arrive before their posted closing time of 4pm, only to find it closed for the long weekend. Wouldn’t that be the time to be open?
The dory museum was really interesting. Such great history.
