Good Chinese food east of the Rockies . New York Chinese food can't compare to San francisco Chinese food tho. You get lots of food so be hungry.
While visiting our son at Bryant University, we happened to find Shanghai. It is a busy restaurant and we dined in the main room. Honestly outside of New York/New Jersey I didn't believe good Chinese food existed. WRONG! Shanghai was exceptional and I told the owner. Service is attentive. Great choice for those who appreciate good Chinese food.
This is a gem on Thayer Street - a much needed high quality chinese restaurant with a hip atmosphere and good service. You can do quick take out or, as I recommend, sit in and dine - they have a bar with delicious drinks and in the summer you can dine outside. It's priced similarly to P.F. Chang's in boston - not as cheap as takeout, but you get the atmosphere, delicious food with generous proportions, and you're supporting local business. Definitely try it!
