About this business
History Established in 1961. After the Shakers were gone, the buildings and property passed into private hands. For the next 37 years, the buildings changed hands many times and the furnishings were dispersed. In early 1961, a ground swell of interest in saving these historic structures brought on the formation of an organization to acquire and restore them. That same year, Shakertown at Pleasant Hill, Kentucky, Inc., was formed as a nonprofit, educational corporation.

Everything! I've been going to Shakertown since the early 1970s, celebrated 10 Mother's Days in their glorious dining room, spent part of my honeymoon there, and my girlfriends and I gather for a weekend retreat once a year in this special, peaceful place. There's nowhere like it! I highly, highly, highly recommend visiting. The food and lodging are beyond superb. 200 year old buildings, magnificently restored, and full of amazing Shaker furniture and artifacts. Treat yourself to a magical weekend!
What a beautiful and relaxing place .we are celebrating our 49th Anniversary in Kentucky at Shaker Village !! .Very Interesting history and Lots of preserved buildings , barns and the church .We Learned How they raised silk worms and made silk , baskets and Shaker furniture ...tomorrow we see the farm ,horse and buggy ride and boat ride on the Kentucky river .
