If you are looking for little explanation and lack of bed side manner, Dr. Patel is the oncologist for you. After awaiting multiple test results, our appointment was pushed, understandably. However, when the doctor was to explain the results, she only approached my mother with a treatment plan. Dr. Patel was very knowledgeable, professional and caring in my situation. We now have a plan and can move forward.
It is very important to feel comfortable with your doctors. Especially when it comes to your life. I was referred to Dr. Shahina Patel by the breast surgeon who had done a double masectomy on me. I had scheduled my first visit with her and I was told that I should have waited until after I scheduled and also completed radiation. I was not made aware of this by anyone prior. I’ve been seeing Dr. Patel for almost 2 years now. I find her to be an excellent doctor who listens to me and wants to know about me. She refers out when needed and appropriate and sends for second opinions as well. My daughter is always on the phone during my appointments and is very considerate of her as well. The office has taken great care of me and navigated me thru many questions, prescriptions and setting up outside scans. It’s been wonderful and I have every confidence in her.
