I wrote this poem while remembering the day I came in during a panic attack and some kind visitor took time to pray for me and introduced himself as being a farmer and a carpenter. And then he asked me what I did, and I said that I was a poet which elicited some mockery from the staff who overheard the conversation, including the doctor. Staff was overworked and overwhelmed. Hospital was at max capacity and the ER was being used as a holding cell and the ER staff is not equipped to deal with admitted patients. Twice it was suggested by staff to leave AMA

I came in yesterday with severe cramping I'm six weeks postpartum with my son and was in extreme pain. I sat in the waiting room for four hours never to be seen or called back when I asked the receptionist. How long will I be waiting? After waiting for two hours? She told me she didn't have a timeframe and couldn't give me any information. She was very And didn't care about how much pain I was in being seen after waiting for four hours very sad
