Utterly pathetic. ONE doctor for the entire night shift. The board said there was a two hour wait at 9pm. By 6am the only reduction in the number of people waiting was from people giving up and leaving. Most were awake for 24 hours with only an uncomfortable chair to try to sleep in. If the department is so understaffed that it is effectively frozen from midnight to 8am, why not shutdown new admissions and just send people elsewhere? Voting has consequences. As an indigenous person, I have never been treated as a human in emergency care until I came here. Thats crazy to say nor should it need to be said but thats the truth. Very much appreciated the care given to me. Thanks to all!
I went into the Emergency for several things going on. For one I had pressure in my head headache for 2 weeks plus with pain in behind my eye and jaw. I couldn't open, and a huge swollen area behind my ear. So I went into the ER we waited a while to see a doctor they gave me T3's for the pain while I waited nothing was working, when I got into see a Doctor they kept asking me if I was a drug user, alcohol abuse or inter venues user throughout the entire visit. A week ago, I had to take my husband to the emergency room at Selkirk hospital. Although the wait was a long 8 hours, he was triaged via EKG’s, blood work and chest xray, through the wait. We believed that knowing they were assessing him, his life was in no immediate danger. The triage staff were very kind and understanding and understaffed.
