Excellent service. Tasty food for the most part. Fish taco and tempura were great - crispy and tasty. The baby steam scallops and the fish roe sauce in Mentaiko spaghetti were amazing. Finished with delicious matcha and yuzu cheesecakes. Sashimi omakase had interesting fish and pairing sauces. Hokkaido Uni was yummy and good value. Seaweed was a bit soggy unfortunately but everything else was excellent. Updated 8-17-24: upgraded to 5 star for food. Upscale looking modern Japanese restaurant with both traditional and fusion dishes. Upon entering Seiya, the restaurant decor gives off a high end Japanese restaurant. The food was delicious and it was nice to have experienced fusion Japanese tapas dishes. Location was right in the middle of Belmont, so street parking is difficult during peak times.
Initial impression is that it’s a higher end spot. Fish was decent quality, service was pretty lackluster (forgot utensils, single use chopsticks, asking for check, etc). Environment could use some TLC, it was probably really nice at one point but is coasting now.
Seiya Japanese Restaurant has a 4.4 star rating with 240 reviews.
