We had an awful experience working with Second Century to renovate our kitchen. When we moved in in 2018, they did remediation needed for our FHA loan, which was fine, except for pushing us to get a ventless dryer and washer unit which now means we have to run a humidifier in the laundry room at all times. When my mom was in the hospital, she spent over 20K rebuilding the windows in her 1890 home. She passed and never moved back into her house. I inherited the home and moved in this summer. Now that it's cold out, I must say these windows are horrible!! Cold air rushes in so badly that I can see the curtains move, and the bathrooms are unusable without space heaters. I can't even imagine what our utility bills are going to be.
The porch built by Second Century Homes was constructed without a proper permit and ultimately failed inspection. Major appliances and fixtures were either improperly installed or not delivered. The initial timeline for construction was three months; the project remained unfinished after a year.
If I could give negative ratings I would. We had windows and doors of a century-old house renovated and it was a terrible experience. The quality was so poor we had to hire restoration professionals subsequently to remedy what Second Century messed up. Work was extremely shoddy, it took months and months beyond what was promised, the owner was unresponsive, and costs were not insignificant. Don’t hire this company ever; you’ll save yourself a world of restoration pain.
