Fair warning to anyone attending the residential withdrawal unit - Dr David Jacka, in his infinite wisdom and despite ADHD now being recognised as a main factor for substance misuse, will not allow you your meds. No tapering. Nothing. The excuse I got was "you don't need to concentrate in detox". Now if you're someone with complex PTSD and correctly diagnosed ADHD suddenly stopping meds while detoxing is disastrous and borderline cruelty. Secada has been such a huge help, and Kristy has been an absolute delight to talk to. She’s kind, patient, and genuinely cares about the people she helps. I’m so thankful for this service and the amazing support it provides to those who need it!
I can't speak more highly of my experience at Secada. The staff were caring and very supportive from reception to medical. The food was great and the encouragement to participate as a team was considerate of everyone's needs/capabilities depending on where they were at. Activities were provided and I particularly enjoyed the pool trips, yoga (awesome guy with his own inspirational addiction story) and the mindful colouring in. Also, best bed ever!!! I’ve tried to contact SECADA for atleast 6 months minimum, more times then I can count. I’ve been transferred to the supposed “team” in my area, with no contact. I’ve left countless voicemails with my name, number & details of my referral. While the voicemail you receive from your service's, when you’s don’t answer, says you’ll do you best to get back to you within 24hours…. So it’s been about 600hours atleast… since I first reached out… with no help… and now I’m moving. So I can only hope the services in my area are better ... read more
What a pathetic centre. It's all about money. My counselling would finish even when I wasn't but another addict turn up. Then I get told I have 2 more visits even though I needed more but I had to go to waiting list. The counselling was more trying to get paper work done not listen. I been there a few years ago so much better then
