A/C repair was supposed to be covered by the extended warranty we had but we were told that the unit was beyond repair and that we needed to purchase a new one. They quoted us with $7,000.00 but we got one from another vendor for $2,795.00; when the extended warranty contract expires we are not renewing!
Sears Home Services has made addressing my concerns difficult. I've called customer service but they will absolutely refuse to give a mailing or email to address for a written complaint. My HVAC system was installed in 10/2010 cost $5,321.00+$778.60 (master protection plan) . On occasions I've had issues with my air handler breaking down due what I believe is faulty installation.Yes, Sears' technicians replaced parts to get it running but the core issue has NOT been addressed. Sears is such a hassel at getting things done. We had a warranty and called to get the refrigerator fixed. They sent out a "maintenance" guy who couldn't fix anything. He took pictures and said he ordered the part. Then nothing happened and our warranty then expired. We called back to find out what happened and got a lot of BS that our warranty expired . After I argued with them for a while they sent someone out and it is fixed.
I really did not think I was going to be scammed by Sears Repair! I called to make an appointment to have my dryer repaired and ended up buying a protection plan for $207. The Sears rep explained that the protection plan was the best deal as it not only included repairing the dryer but if it failed again in the next 12 months Sears would offer up to $500 for a new dryer (currently on sale new for $378.00).
