Even with a pre-med biology degree, I could not understand Dr. Devine. I realize it is very difficult to find quality orthopedic care in SLO, but please look for a different provider. Despite an MRI showing an acute ACL tear, over two appointments, Devine questioned whether it was even my ACL that was injured. Knee replacement went just as scripted. Very pleased with the 'new' Knee. Highly recommend Dr. Devine.
Dr Devine is the most honest, trustworthy, thorough, competent, and compassionate doctor that I have ever had in my life! He had the option to rush me to have knee surgery, but he recommended that I try a gel shot in my knee (not cortisone!) to extend the life (since knee surgery doesn’t always last past 15 years). Seemed to listen, caring by 2nd visit everything he has said before he then said the opposite, counter dictated himself. That appointment he refused to look at the records to see how much improvement I have been to my weight which she had asked for the first time. Refused to acknowledge that I went from 39 BMI to 34. I fought so hard to lower my BMI and get a slap in the face and refuse to look at records that it’s just unacceptable. Fixed a broken (!) quad tendon about 8 years ago. Still like new. Also best 'bedside manner'. Ask him about beach volleyball.
Horrible experience 1 yr later did not address my knee issues. Went to new Dr. and she addressed have major knee issues will be getting taken care of by new Dr. 1 year of my life down the drain. And horrible billing dept.!!!!!
I am well on my way to recovery after shoulder replacement surgery performed by Dr. Devine and his team. The results, a normalizing of range of motion, the elimination of pain, have been nothing short of miraculous. My only regret is that I didn't have this surgery done months, if not years earlier. Thanks to Dr. Devine's diagnosis and replacement remedy I'm going to be able to return to an active, pain free lifestyle.
I would highly recommend seeing another orthopedist. Dr. Devine was condescending and rude. I felt belittled upon leaving my appointment, for which I waited nearly 3 weeks.
I had the worst experience I've ever had with a medical provider. I was seen by Dr Devine at French Hospital. He said I must schedule an appointment with him the following Monday. He said his schedule was booked but to tell his staff to fit me in at his request. Their system has 10 prompts, none of which allows you to speak with a live person. I've left 7 Messages with no response. I finally saw my medical provider who had Dr Devine's cell #. She explained my frustration and he said to call again. I left several more message... read more
