Wow I must say this place is top-notch. They’re professional, trustworthy, and excellent at what they do. I am always concered that car places try to get extra money out of you but that is not the case with SD Transmission. I highly recommend them. Also, Vanessa was incredibly kind and fair. A truly outstanding operation.
They bench rebuilt my truck transmission back in November. It ran fine for several months (about 4000 miles), then started having issues skipping up and down shifting. They've had the truck for two weeks, and STILL cannot figure out the problem. I've had to live with Uber and DoorDash. I have never heard of ANY transmission shop requiring two weeks to resolve a problem. It doesn't help they're only open 4 days a week, but I have lost any faith in this shop and recommend people AVOID this busoness.
After some recommendations from Jeep people I took my daughters XJ transmission here to be rebuilt for a fair price. It's been 6 months so far daily driven and off roading. Trouble free since.
Traveling from Oregon, transmission overheated in LA area, pulling a 17K fifthwheel, 68rfe group recommended SD Transmission in El Cajon. Vanessa was very knowledgeable on the 68rfe, I brought truck into their shop and they ran a diagnostic test, no problem codes, dropped the pan, no debris or clutch material, had them perform service, changed filters using OEM filters. They're really helpful they did a great job fixing my speedo the drive gear in the transmission was bad and they found it South Dakota they really did a great job. I would recommend San Diego transmission.
