You learn a lot about a doctor the first time you criticize them, their response speaks volumes. When they frame your health as “health anxiety” in your chart ( he did this to my daughter and myself), it’s time to leave. Medical misogyny is real. Dr. Starenchak is wonderful physician. He is extremely well educated, knowledgeable, and experienced. He is kind, compassionate, thorough, thoughtful, and caring. Dr. Starenchak is the finest doctor I’ve ever had caring for my illnesses, and also one who truly cares about me.
He always seemed very eager to “reassure” me that “it could just be stress”. He dismissed lab results that were concerning to other providers and told me I was fine. Only by seeing those other providers and actually having them review the same tests he said weren’t indicative of anything, was I able to start receiving care.
