Got a service here last year and they did $1000 of non-essential work without warning me. Have started going somewhere else and realised this is not the norm. I think some mechanics eyes light up when they realise the customer isn't a car person.

Sean at Scott Forbe's Automotive is great. I came in for a service on the Saturday of the long weekend and then experienced an intermittent issue I'd been having with the car and drove straight back. Sean checked the codes then and there and had the part I needed the following Tuesday and fit me in last minute. No issues since then (crank shaft sensor was faulty). We take both our cars there for servicing and repairs. They are easy to talk to, reasonably priced and have always done a fantastic job.
Recently got my car serviced by another mechanic and it made me realise I paid 3× the reasonable price for a service here previously.
