I needed a Ventral hernia repair. I had to put it off time and again for personal reasons. An elderly parent's home caught on fire, I moved to a larger home to have room for this parent. Holidays, etc...I had let it go too long. It looked like I was pregnant with twins, and this is an understatement. I am no stranger to surgery, I was born far from perfect and have to call on a cardiothoracic surgeon from time to time. It is that surgeon's PA (Joel Wise) that recommended Dr. Bloemendal. Bless this man; he saved my life. I was diagnosed with acute appendicitis in 2016. Due to a misread CT scan, there was no emergency surgery to remove my appendix. This meant I went for 3 years enduring debilitating pain, time lost from work, and insurmountable debt from ER bills, doctor's visits, and numerous scans. I say this b/c Dr. Bloemendal actually LISTENED to me, took my concerns seriously, and spent a gracious amount of time explaining what he could, or would, do. If you ever need an excellent, caring general surgeon.... Dr Bloemendal is the one. My PCP called him at 4pm going over my symptoms.... we were told to come over to his office. We walked in the door at 5pm. The front desk greeted us with smiling faces. The nurse did the same when she called us back. Dr Bloemendal never made us feel like we were interrupting his office schedule. He direct admitted me to the hospital and did surgery the next day. I highly recommend him !!!

Dr. Bloemendal performed gall bladder surgery on me. He was very professional, answered all questions and I had every confidence I was in good hands. My surgery and recovery was uneventful (just what you want) and I traveled to Europe on vacation ten days later with no problems. My husband and I were both very impressed by Dr. Bloemendal and his staff and would certainly recommend him highly.

I had spent a month feeling horrible and no one could figure out why. I told my GI Dr. that it still hurt to press on the location of my gallbladder. He sent me to Dr. Bloomendal for a second opinion. Dr. Bloomendal said it had to be my gallbladder. He saw how much discomfort I was in and had it out the following day! He was very patient and explained the surgery very well. I wouldn't hesitate going back or recommending him! Outstanding bedside manner. Have felt great since the surgery!

A very skilled, well-trained, personable surgeon. Friendly and caring. Spent all the time I wanted. Loved how he personally drew my anatomy to show what my choices were for procedure. But bottom line: very skilled.
