I was told that I can’t exchange bills for loonies here because I am not a Scotiabank member. I have accounts with Tangerine, Scotiabank’s online-only bank, which other tellers had accepted in the past. She said that Tangerine doesn’t count. I asked if this was a new policy. She said yes. I asked where I could read more about the new policy. She could not give me any links or resources, only saying “Ohh, I’m not sure, it’s been over a year,” and vaguely pointing towards the door. I had a very disappointing experience with Uma Karthikeyan, the Senior Advisor. She completed my account application, and when I asked if I could contact her later if I had any questions, she said that would be fine. Unfortunately, every time I call her extension (4211), she doesn't answer. I've left multiple voicemails requesting a callback, but she has never returned any of them. It's frustrating to be told to reach out for help and then receive no response. Terrible customer service, especially for a new customer.

Had a 5 year var mortgage with this bank . Rate was great , they offered me a credit line to do future Reno’s . At the time , I never really needed it , however they really wanted me to take it , said I didn’t need to use it , it’s there in case of an emergency. Pressed me to do it . There’s no interest in the loan unless it’s used , no additional fees for opening it , no additional credit checks etc. So … I figured , what the heck , I will just grab it .
