Delicious gelato! My husband and I happened to be driving through Elkader and found Scoopabowl. The owner, Tracy, served us and was super friendly and welcoming. We are from Illinois and by chance stumbled on her ice cream shop on a drive out west. Her hours are limited at this time of the year, so check the website or the Facebook page for her current hours. Thank you, Tracy!

This is the place to go if your pallet for a frozen sweet treat is beyond run-of-the-mill and basic. Scoop-abowl offers up a large variety of elevated, but not all, pretentious varieties of ice creams and gelato. All the while served with the kind of Iowa nice you would expect in a quaint small town. I highly recommend "Scoop".

This place seems to be located in the middle of nowhere, but it must get business. There is a campground next to it. The ice cream was decently priced, lots of flavors, a bit more "granular" with larger crystals, not as smooth as some I've tried, but it passed the taste test. Only a single staff was there at the time but she was good getting the treats out fast for us. The building wasn't hot or cold, and had metal chairs and tables to sit on.
