He was very intimidating and become threatening when we questioned his treatment recommendations.
Dr. Schroettner is a highly competent doctor. He is available to his patients 24/7 for emergencies and genuinely cares about the people he treats. He is extremely up to date with new medications and their uses and side effects, and well-versed in psychiatric theory and practice. I have been seeing Dr. Schroettner for 23 years. All of that being said, his receptionist, Debbie, is terrible. She is rude, inconsiderate, she has horrible phone etiquette, and her in-person interaction with Dr. Schroettner's patients is even worse.... read more
I hate to say this but I have to agree with a previous review about the receptionist Debbie. She was so rude to my child that we actually had to change doctors. I didn't write a review when we left because that's not my style but recently talked to another patient of his and they brought up their negative interaction with Debbie. My child really liked him as a doctor but I just couldn't see the anxiety associated with their visits due to Debbie as being a healthy thing.
We have seen Dr. Schroettner for > a decade. He's often running a little late, because he gives everyone plenty of time to talk and never rushes. He listens, and allows you to be involved in your own treatment plan. He's willing to try many different medications - including ones other Drs tend to steer clear of. He's the last psychiatrist in the area that isn't tied to Aurora/ProHealth, so he still gives out samples. Debbie can be a intimidating gatekeeper, but is very nice and efficient.
After a long run of ineffective psychiatrists who did not listen, Dr. Schroettner finally helped me get my Bipolar symptoms under control. Sometimes he wasn't warm and fuzzy about the truth, which in the end helped keep me on track.
I have been seeing Dr. Schroettner for about 4 yrs now, and he is the best person I have ever had the blessing of knowing in the psychiatric field. He is kind, patient, and CARING. He is down-to-earth, and you can communicate with him and be confident that you can trust him. He works with you to find a good medication that fits your needs. I drive 1 hr and 15 min. to see him for a 45 min. appt. I may not be alive today if it weren't for him. Go to him if you need an astounding psychiatrist.
I have been seeing this Dr.since I was 19 ,now i'm 26.I had a lot of trust in this man but if I should now.The medication I am now taking he said he would only allow me a extra 6 months and then cut me off completely I have had severe anxiety an panic attacks, racing heart, feeling like I was going to pass out)My ? is,why would a doc who should care do this to a patient,When he knows my anxiety is terrible. Idk now though ,he might kick me off all my meds so looking options of other docs.God Bless
