I am compelled to warn others about my experience with JOSEPH SCHMITZ an electrician who was recommended to me. In my case, he charged me for work that was never completed and left dangerous wiring issues that required professional correction. His behavior was deceptive and unprofessional. I sincerely question how he holds a license. I strongly advise anyone to scrutinize his credentials thoroughly before ever hiring him. Avoid at all costs.
Joe installed 3 mini splits in my home this week. He has done previous electric work for me. Spending the money to upgrade to the mini splits from the electric baseboard heat I had was a big decision. Joe explained what equipment he was installing, how it worked, rebates available and also explained everything to my son as I wanted his opinion. I felt his price was reasonable for the equipment and the labor involved. I would recommend him highly. And a "thank you" to his wife Nicole for her help also.
Schmitz was hired back in Sept to install a mini split and a day or two's worth of misc repairs in our house. They kept trying to schedule just the mini split, to which I replied, "this is a package deal, if you do not do the misc work, I don't want the mini split only." Joe's wife replied, "of course. we would never do that to a customer." Guess what, Schmitz left after the mini split install saying he would come back that following Monday for the remainder of the items. Never shows. For 5 months Joe's wife insisted they w... read more
High prices, refusal to itemize estimates (so it's just like a hey take it or leave it price), shoddy work. Charged us more than $2000 to add a few outlets to our house. In the process of adding them they sloppily gouged dozens of massive uneven holes in our walls and ceilings which they took no responsibility over. So I paid them more than $2K for six hours of work and then had to spend weeks repairing drywall that they destroyed. DISHONEST COMPANY - NOT RECOMMENDED.
Buyer beware. We paid him over 20K and he the work was so fouled up we had to hire a second electrician to fix all of his mistakes and cut corners. Using Joe easily cost us double.
Schmitz electric has a 3.9 star rating with 19 reviews.
