I never do reviews but I am so shocked at the person's 3 star review I had to contribute. (It's good that Mike Schmidt took the time to respond to that review so you get an idea of what was going on). We used Schmidt Exterior's twice. First in 2004 to replace 20 year old builders grade windows with Pella. They are still awesome! Then in 2008 they removed our reverse batten cedar siding (full of carpenter bees and woodpecker holes) with Hardi Plank siding, new sofit, fascia, and gutters. It is still looking great! The worst experience of any contractor. Don’t hire Schmidt Exteriors. The man is a bully. His employees smoke cigarettes in your home. They show up late. They do the work incorrectly the first time. Then when Mike has to fix incorrect work he complains the entire time of how he’s spending money out of his pocket to make it right. Instead hire someone that will strive to do the job correctly the first time. Hire someone who isn’t a bully. If I could give less than one star I would.

Schmidt Exteriors has been in business for 43 years and NEVER had a review like this. 43 years of happy customers versus this homeowner. 88% of our customers are referrals and repeat customers. Schmidt Exteriors installed two doors for this homeowner. There was a problem with the color of one door and the door needed to be adjusted. Work completed as promised. Made good on an unexpected problem at no cost.
While the result is somewhat acceptable, working with Mike was the absolute worst experience I have ever encountered with any type of service. Every request was met with argument, every issue was met with an immediate defensive posture and a propensity to blame someone else. I came to know that everything about my home was substandard, including my wife. The crews and the owner showed no respect for the property or the property owners.
