Not a fan of Dr. Schirmer. He performed a relatively simple outpatient procedure on me. My recovery was a 4-day nightmare with no support from him or his office, and the procedure didn't work. He was always late for my follow-up appointments (60 minutes first appointment, and 30 minutes the second appointment - he completely frustrated his office staff). Dr. Schirmer did abdominal surgery in 2017 to correct my Hiatial hernia. He was a wonderful, compassionate and caring doctor. I have had no trouble since the surgery.
He is a great physician! I had bariatric surgery in 2002, had complications due to my own doings, had blocked bowels was in UVA a month and half. Had several different surgeries, he saved me x2. Will ever be in grateful for him!
