We had a great experience with Scherr Companies- in particular their handyman services branch. We had several smaller projects that were piling up, to include our kitchen sink that had come loose and our basement steps which needed reframing as the house has settled. Scherr worked on several repairs projects for me. For the porch, they replaced rotting fascia boards/trim and then scraped, sanded, and painted boards that were structurally sound but worn. They also repaired and painted the ceiling in my Kitchen, LR, and upstairs hallway over the stairs. The crew was on time, professional, clean, fast, and exceeded my expectations, particularly given the reasonable price. I would definitely use Scherr again!
We had a pipe burst in the basement over the Christmas cold snap causing a minor flood that pretty much destroyed the bottom half of all the walls, the floors and the ceilings where the water came through. Mitigation company pretty much gutted the basement down to the studs and foundation. (before pics attached) In comes Scherr for the rebuild! Scherr ordered and installed a new custom back door with frame on our house. It looks great and will help us retain heat and A/C in and keep storm water out. Based on what other contractors had told us, we did doubted this was possible due to the nonstandard size and ground level placement of the doorway.
