We were lucky to find Schei Home Building to build our dream home. We bought property with a house that was destroyed in a tragic fire so they arranged the demolition and worked with us in the development of a design for our new home. We worked closely with Mark Scheipeter and his team throughout the construction. They recommended sources for the many selections during the process but gave us the latitude to discover our own sources as well and were upfront on the cost of all choices. I have engaged SHB to develop 8 homes in St. Louis. SHB is a full-service GC and builder; meaning, they handle everything for you. This includes design/architecture, budgeting/bidding, permits, inspections, construction, loan draw requests, and more. They have extensive residential home building experience and vast knowledge of building codes in multiple municipalities. SHB gives guidance and options on materials and finishes, which is helpful during what can be an overwhelming experience for some.
It should be said at the beginning of this review, Mark Scheipeter is very friendly, embracing and believable...UNTIL....the contract is signed. Word of advice, go thru the contract with a lawyer because what Mr. Scheipeter has told to you in conversation is much different than what is in the contract! Mark and his team took over at the tail end of the construction with our new home and have been great to work with! In an industry where it is a rarity, Mark and his team truly care about the work they are doing and take the time to get to know their customers!
