5+ stars. While driving from Seattle, WA to Arizona my diesel PU blew off the Turbo Intercooler hose leaving me stranded just outside of Monticello. Got towed in and called Schafer's the next morning. They got me in that day and one day later we were back on the road. When you're out seemingly in the middle of nowhere and find someone not only willing to work on your truck but knowledgeable enough to fix it right was true peace of mind! To top it off their prices were very fair. Thanks to Schafers and thier staff.
I was driving cross country and I hit a deer in Monticello. I am a woman traveling alone and I really needed advice. I showed up first thing in the morning, and was met with a can-do attitude. My vehicle was inspected and it was determined my car was drivable. They were also very honest that they did not have a new headlight for me. No charge and I was given sound advice, and I continued my drive until I arrived in a larger town with a Toyota dealership who would have the headlight I needed. They really set me at ease. Twice this place house found things other mechanics missed.
Had to make an emergency sop on our way to Mesa Verde. Truck was having issues. We checked with another shop in town and the guy on the phone basically said, don't come to me I'm too busy. Fortunately Schafer's, though also busy, was at the very least willing to help us diagnose what was wrong. He even ordered the part ahead of us making a decision since it was the weekend so he could get us on the road if needed. Luckily we decided we were ok to go on to Cortez and had no further issues. They are beyond nice and so helpful! We are from Texas and just traveling through. We went to another auto shop in town first and they weren’t helpful at all, then we called Schafers and they immediately helped us and had us on our way quickly! Couldn’t recommend them more!
