good food – ok. i understand that not all items are a home run (like the meatballs, super dry) but just follow my lead on this. get the insalata salad with balsamic. get the santa fe pizza and substitute pesto for bean sauce. finally, dont leave without getting the torte de mele! Everytime!
3 strikes and your out!! – Sorry to all you Scarpa lovers...we've tried 3 different times, 3 different menu items and it just doesn't work for us. Pizza came burnt, pasta came dry, what can we say? We'll just have to mark this one off and on to new restaurant adventures!! :)
Terrible Mushroom Pizza – My girlfriend got some sort of pasta and really enjoyed it. I tried their mushroom pizza which was terrible. Just thinking about it makes me sick now. The pizza featured some sort of exotic mushrooms which just tasted really bad. The pizza might have been OK otherwise. There was some sort of apple pastry with ice cream for dessert that was very good. Our server was friendly and helpful.
Beer, Wine, Pizza, Salad, and Pasta. But thats all? – Scarpas has very good food, the pizza and salads are terrific, and the service is not great but average. The pasta is why I love this place!! I could not possible recommend anything more highly than the Red chili cream pasta with chicken. However the only time i go there is when im in the mood for it. I really wish this buisness would expand on its menu. However what they do have is good and worth checking out.
food okay, service is bad – My husband and I went to the one on Eubank and Montgomery for dinner and we will not be going back. We ordered an appetizer first and a couple beers, when the waitress brought the beers she said the appetizer will be out soon-so I know she heard us when we ordered it. Well, the appetizer never came and our food didn't come out for 30 minutes. My husband's pasta was good and hot, but my pizza was cold like it had been sitting out for a while. We were starving and ate it anyway, people that got sat ... read more
Relaxing Setting, Well Turned-Out Food – Unlike some of the other reviewers, I have only eaten at Scarpa's once, and only by myself, so I lack their perspective. Still, I was impressed with both the ambience and the food. The menu is straightforward, with three main categories: brick oven pizzas, salads and pasta dishes. I ordered a pasta dish, which was freshly prepared with the pasta properly done, served with a relatively imaginative sauce of Italian sausage, sun-dried tomatoes and wine, thickened with just enough cream t... read more
We keep coming back – Large variety of food all of it good; pizza, salads, pasta. Nice atmosphere, dark and quiet enough to be romantic, but still good for small groups of people. Informal, sharing dishes is popular here, including the salads, so you can try alot of different things. Prices are reasonable., good selection of drinks. Service is generally very competent.
My favorite brick oven pizza – The best brick oven pizza in town. For everyone who loves a thin and crispy crust, it is the perfect pizza, with just the right amount of sauce and toppings, never soggy or falling apart. Their salads are a great accompaniment to their pizza. In fact the whole menu is superb. Excellent service every time. I do occasionally order there distinct coffee flavored ice-cream drizzled with caramel and whipped cream, of course we all share, as it is enormous. Reminds me of fried Ice-cream. My niece of ... read more
Traditional Italian it's not, but exuberant pizzas and hearty pastas make this dimly-lit restaurant a clear favorite. – The Scene Scarpas is best known for its gourmet pizza. These ten-inch meals on a crust are fired in a brick oven with mozzarella and fontina cheeses and an enormous selection of toppings. This dimly-lit brick restaurant excels at more than pizza, however, with equally good house pasta of the bowtie variety. The Food The Thai Chicken pizza includes shitake mushrooms and caramelized onions. The Four Seasons f... read more
