Please, when adopting an animal, do meet and greets. Take it slow. Make sure these animals are okay with all of your animals in the house. Cats, birds, other dogs, children, even. Despite the care and attention that the staff give these animals, things happen and can go south very quickly. A family member wanted to adopt an animal and, unfortunately, didn't listen to my advice above when she went to go see an animal. She asked all the questions, including if the dog was good with cats.
