When was the last time you went to Sassafras Restaurant, Huntington CT ? For us it had been a while. In fact, this welas the kids first time going! The food is good, the service was great, but the ice cream was the star. This Shelton staple will bring back a lot of memories for many. For better or worse, nothing has changed here since I can remember and that's going back decades. Except the ceiling tiles which were painted by the owner's kid during the pandemic. Stopped in for coffee and breakfast and as usual food was very good and service was great... they were very accommodating in that they used a different bread for my French toast. I have been going to sassafras for 40 plus years.... When my girls were young they would get the ice cream cone that was put on a plate to look like a happy clown! They have great ice cream too!!
I love this place! Always friendly, food is always good. Generous with portions too.
Environment was nice, it was self seating and we were able to sit quickly which was nice. However no greeting or really welcoming introduction. However there aren’t any actual REAL servers it just seems like a bunch of bussers/food runners running around, we got our drinks and to what I am guessing is the manager took our order, most rushed interaction ever me and another friend barely even got to say our full order before she took off.
