Our family, including two young children, stayed at Sarasota Surf & Racquet Club from July 12–15, 2026, in unit W304. Our experience was completely unacceptable from start to finish. Upon arrival, we found the unit to be filthy. One of the showers had visible mold, and there was no hot water in that bathroom for most of our stay because the shower knobs were so caked with grime and residue that they were nearly impossible to turn. Great location. Rooms are fine, could use some updating, and some added kitchen ware for convenience. The security was a problem. Rude and clearly on a power trip. SSRC is not interested in customer service at all. They do not care. (Side note- Of all the resorts I have ever been to, I have never noticed if there was security present or not) Security should be in the background- there if you need them- not creeping up to "catch" you breaking a rule. The security was so rude . They would yell at us for being to loud mind we were normal talking . We were being treated like TODDLERS if you want a nice day care it’s here. Zach was the worst of it allllll .everying else was fine besides not being able to eat and drink at the pool and not having washers and dryers .
The grounds and walls amenities are very nice, however, unit selection is very important. We’ve vacationed here for many years. Some units are better than others. This year, our unit has a beautiful Gulf view. Unfortunately, the unit itself is quite dated and not very well equipped. The furniture is old and extremely uncomfortable. In light of the view, demand for the unit is undoubtedly high - perhaps no incentive to update?? By contrast, the unit next door is updated and beautiful. Choose your unit wisely.
