The Financial Aid Office at Santa Fe College has been one of the most stressful and disappointing parts of my academic journey. Since August 2024, I’ve experienced repeated issues with my Bright Futures scholarship due to reporting errors on their end. Most recently, they reported that I earned zero credit hours for both Fall 2024 and Spring 2025—despite completing 13 credit hours and earning my AA degree. At the financial aid office now…only one staff member is at the window helping students and families. With the issues related to financial aid, why are they not trying to do better? Who is in charge of the financial aid office and why aren’t they being held responsible for the disastrous new software rollout (resulting in no/slow delay of disbursements) and lack of customer service? Instead we are re-modeling their office for services they aren’t providing. Put that money to another department that actually serves students.
It might say 1 star, but it really deserves zero. I’ve been waiting since August 2024 to receive financial aid, and it’s now June 2025. Despite countless calls, emails, and visits to the Financial Aid Office, I’ve received no clear answers - only vague explanations and excuses. I've been waiting close to six months to receive my spring disbursement, the same thing happened in the fall. I've gone at least a dozen times in person and was given inconsistent information regarding updates. Twice I was told I'd have the money by the end of the week, months ago. I went to the college president's office and have spoken to student affairs. The updates always promise a resolution in the near future that never comes.
