Hands down best gym in Santa Cruz if your serious about powerlifting or even bodybuilding. The gym gives old school vibes and is definitely barebones which is pretty sick. Its open 24/7 depending what time you come you might be the only one which is nice basically a private gym. Its a smaller friendly community everyone is open to chatting but if you just wanna focus on your workout its also perfect for that.
If you think working out consists of moving heavy pieces of metal with your own muscles, this is the place for you. If you think working out primarily consists of fussing with $10k machines and bouncing around to club music, then it's not the place for you. Queer and women friendly, they have female Olympic powerlifters for coaches. Also, they allow dogs.
The gym and equipment is nice, but the staff is pretty rude.
Amazing gym! Has everything you need with a super open and accepting environment. Owner is great, accommodating and knows his stuff! Gym is roomy and also in a perfect location!
A powerlifter's dream! I competed in a USPA meet here. First and most important, everyone is really kind and encouraging. They have clearly built an inclusive gym community/culture. Equipment wise, they have as many specialty bars as your heart desires. Calibrated plates galore. The pink barbell clips are a great touch. I'll absolutely drop in here next time I'm in Santa Cruz.
