I have been coming to Coronado since April two and a half years ago. We have been able to have a wonderful relationship ship with staff members and our present Activity Director April. I have been pleased to do music with the residents. April arranges the monthly gatherings. She enjoys the residents. I was especially impressed by her hand built planters for Coronado. The building is beautiful, but, that's where the beauty stops. The administrator is very rude, and, unapproachable. The 2 months my loved one was there, they had no Director of Nurses and the Assistant Director was rarely there. Most of the nursing staff is very good at what they do, but, most of the day shift employees are lazy and rude. Activities consist, mostly, of bingo, and they gave my loved one, who is a brittle diabetic, candy for bingo prizes. This place is horrible and if I could give it a negative stars, I would. The staff are unprofessional and if you complain they retaliate. Not sure what school the nurses graduated from, but they need a refresher course. Nurses don't take vitals on patients that are on hospice, I was told they don't do that. A nurse continued to force food down my grandmother's throat even though she lost the ability to swallow in her late stages. I would not recommend anyone to place their loved ones under their care. Our loved one is in the hospital because of the negligence that occurred while they were there. They developed more than 1 bed sore while there. They are the epitome of doing just enough to get by. Complaining to the DON or Administrator is a joke, they will find a way to excuse their staffs behavior, and may even blame the fact you're there and taking notice. They let my Mom fall twice in the same night . I had to go and find an aid to clean her up. She has a rash on her bottom with a quarter spot missing from her skin . One of the male night nurses was not available .When I confronted him about keeping her dry he became agitated and actually pointed his finger in my face. How this place got five stars ,I will never know . Think twice about this place.
Please if you care for your love one happiness and being and well taking of please DO NOT leave your love one here, they are understaff. So many timesI have found my love one full of urine and bm it was so bad I smelled it as soon as I step foot into her room:(, when asked to assist I received alot of eyes rolling as if I was not standing in front, please if you can PLEASE find another NH and then do pop up just to make sure your loved one is properly cared for, needless to say I pulled my loved one out and never looked back... read more
This place sucks. My grandmother has been in this place for a couple months it's horrible. The staff us lazy if there not sleeping there on there cell phones or on a break. They kept my grandmother drugged so they wouldn't have to deal with her. She fell broke her arm while in her care. There very rude. The list goes on but there isn't enough time to list everything. This place is the worst. No one cares about the well being of the patients. The nurses are rude and very unprofessional. This place is the definition of ghetto. When you call the nurse they take hours to come assist the patient! Please stay away from this place. I had a friend who works in the medical field and he would tell me to stay away. I beg everyone to reconsider. If you really want to know how a nursing care works. Go check it out at night but I don't recommend ashford gardens.
My elderly mother was NOT cared for properly at San Remo Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Home following surgery for a broken leg. Confused from meds, she fell re-breaking her femur after being there only 30 hours. Although classified as a fall risk and warned just hours before that she was trying to get out of bed, they took no precautions (other than lowering her bed) to try to prevent the fall--no bed alarm-- or minimize the consequences --no padding around the bed.
