Class Act Italian If you want an Italian restaraunt that is different from all of the major chains (Olive Garden etc). then this is your place! It has a very smalltown mom and pops feel. The staff is incredible. The food is great! Try the Minestrone soup, it's the best I have ever had!
Very good Italian food Salvatore Scallopini's serves great Italian food at a very reasonable price. The wait is not too long for a table and the service is very good. They do not serve liquor. PROS: Good food CONS: No liquor license
Salvatore Scallopini needs to QUICKLY bring back its old manager! I used to go to Sal's all the time. Not just this one, but the one in Eastpointe as well. They used to be so great! The manager they had a few years ago really cared for the place, but now...let's just say the staff could care less. The owner seems to never be there, and when he is he is indifferent to the many problems. The management does not seem to care as the old manager did. The food is NEVER fresh. Almost everything is nuked. Also, there is NO consisten... read more
I have to start by saying - I miss you Norm!! He was the owner until about a couple years ago. I have been going to Sals since I was 15. It was hard growing up in Michigan since I came from an all Italian neighborhood. When we tried this place out back in 1989 - I felt like I was home again. The best food ever!!!! I love this place and the prices can not be beat. Give it a try ! I take my kids there now - 18 years later! My favorite ... everything! What a jem.
Best Neighborhood Secret – I absolutely adore this restaurant. Awesome food, and the restaurant is very accepting towards modification requests. Personalized, quick service with a good wine list. Great new deck during the summer months. Best-kept neighborhood secret!

Chicken Tosca! – This was my third time visiting Salvatore Scallopini. I had Chicken Tosca, breaded chicken breast sauteed with mushrooms and lemon wine sauce. Though I do not like lemon based sauce, I ordered it because my friend recommended that it is the house favorite, and I am glad I did. The chicken was very soft, and the lemon wine sauce wasn't sour but fresh with a tint of lemony taste. The side pasta was a disappointment, but after all it's a "side" and I remember that Penne Palamino e Pollo was pretty good last tim... read more
