We brought our own inflatable canoe! My 11 year old son and I began canoeing the Clackamas River in Oregon when he was 6. After selling our Coleman and moving to Arizona 2 years ago we feared our father-son time was over. Not so! We picked up an "Intex" inflatable canoe for under $100 at Costco and thanks to the Salt River Shuttle; we are still able to enjoy this great father-son activity. We give the Salt River Tubing folks our top rating. Since our first time out two years ago, we found the vehicle parking safe and secure,... read more
Salt River Tubing If you want a day of fun in the sun, than this is the activity for you! Drive out to the Salt River (East Phoenix). Rent a raft, and get in the water. You will float down mini rapids, for a couple of hours and relax. It is totally fun, especially if you bring a group of friends. Prices are very reasonable, and it is a total blast!
Lots of fun, but not for kids Salt River tubing is a college tradition around here. You take a cooler full of beer and pack in on an intertube while you and your friends float down the river with it. It's great for an afternoon of adult fun, but I would not suggest it for a family. PROS: Fun, cool CONS: Crowded, lots of drunks falling in the river
Cool summer fun! This is a nice place to visit in the blazing summer heat of Arizona. Getting drenched in the lazy summer days is just my idea of having fun. I generally go with my campus buddies from Arizona State University, and we have always found the place to be clean and safe, with awesome scenery. Parking is free. It does get a bit crowded here sometimes. I guess it might be a bit too dangerous for kids after all, but otherwise it is very safe. This place is open from May to October, and is no more expensive than a mo... read more
A traditional activity in the Phoenix area! Salt River tubing is a great way to cool off in the summer. Most people go in big groups and rent an extra tube just to through a cooler on. Avoid going in the summer since the sun is too strong and wear sunblock no matter what time of year. All of our friends seem to get sunburn, but I wear SPF 50! I wouldn't recommend this as an activity to do with kids because I think that it could be a little dangerous for them. PROS: Fun and good way to cool off CONS: I wouldn't bring smaller ... read more
Good Fun!!! I do agree - this is FUN! But I wouldn't bring the family. Seems to be a lot of college kids around. And yes always wear sunblock, it doesn't matter what time of the day you go. The sun is so strong here, you will get burned. But this is a great place to go to cool off! I would reccomend it.
What a great time we had!!
It was the most amazing thing I’ve ever done!!! We Weber by 3 different sets of wild mustangs... literally floated right by them.. was so close could touch them. Seen otters and a bald eagle! Was the best time just floating and chilling and enjoying nature!!!
We have lived here for 5 years and always enjoy the Salt River tubing. We have many guests that visit us from IL and doing this with them always rates as their favorite part of their trip!!
