Mental health at this facility is a scam. They hurt me more than helped and harass patients. I lost 10lbs while inpatient and there was blood on the floor for over a week that I reported and they didn't clean. The nurses didn't help with medication and they stopped my normal mental health medicine and put me on a medication I didn't approve nor need that kept me inpatient for longer than I needed, it felt like I was a prisoner of their mental health ward. Saving my life making its declining health livable Thank you for all you do
Sadly the Salem VA center does not give a darn about the healthcare of veterans. The the "community care act" is a joke there you have to go through so much red tape and it's so difficult to see anyone when you need specialty care that you might as well just go ahead and pay for yourself or just suffer. I am almost amazed every time I go there just the level that the doctors and nurse practitioners care more about protecting the VA than healing veterans! I know you have all heard the stories where there have been bad experiences in any hospital and the Veterans Hospital. This is not one of those. I have had the best possible care and resolution for my issue and everyone here is so nice, Nurse, foodservice, maintenance, janitorial and Drs all went well above and beyond. Special thanks to Cardiac and 4th floor folks.
