I honestly don't know what I would do without Paul and his staff. They always make sure I have what I need, even when my Doctors don't respond, even when they don't have that specific med in stock. They genuinely care......a word to the wise, pick up your meds early in the day...make your Doc appointments early....if we don't pool together and support our local pharmacy , then you will be typing your requests on line.....be smart, don't be a fart.
I had a very concerning experience picking up a prescription at Salem Drugs in Port Washington on Friday, March 6th. The owner, Paul Schimel, declined to process the prescription through my insurance and insisted that I pay out of pocket, even though the prescription had already been filled and the pharmacy accepts my insurance. I recently had wrist surgery and my doctor sent a digital prescription for Percocet to Salem Pharmacy for post-operative pain management. When I arrived around 6pm to pick it up, I was told they did not have the medication in stock. The frustrating part wasn’t just the inventory issue — it was that no one contacted me or my doctor in advance to let us know.
