My wife and I booked an estate king at Salammander Middleburg, and had a very relaxing and enjoyable time at the resort as well as in the quaint town of Middleburg. The estate rooms are on upper floors and have better views than the terrace rooms. However, as this resort is pet friendly a terrace room makes a lot of sense for those wanting to take their dog for an easy walk on the expansive grounds. Excellent restaurants in the resort, and more within a mile with a shuttle service. The facilities and service are absolutely first rate. The only draw back is deep pillow top beds - great for some people but not for me. As for trail rides, I had a 22 year old retired Amish plow horse which was ideal for a relaxing ride - just don’t expect more than walking speed. The stables are kept astoundingly clean with no smell, and the tack room is so perfect it looked like a store.
