However, there are times when they seem understaffed, making the overall workflow feel a bit strained and affecting the level of individual support available. While it remains a good non-judgmental space, those seeking a less pressuring experience with more structured support might find a Medicare Mental Health Centre to be a better alternative depending on their needs.

I am deeply disappointed with this mental health service. Appointments are cancelled at the last minute, communication is unreliable, and when people are at their most vulnerable they are often left completely alone without meaningful clinical support. Opening up about painful and deeply personal issues takes enormous trust and courage. To then be left without follow-up, continuity, or effective care can feel abandoning and emotionally damaging. I’m incredibly grateful for Safehaven and the support I’ve received there. It’s one of the few mental health services where I’ve truly felt seen and heard without judgement. It makes such a difference knowing there are people who genuinely care and see you as a person instead of a case. Having a safe and understanding space to go to in times of distress, without the environment of the ED, has been extremely helpful.
