One of the best doctors and practices Ive ever visited! I arrived a couple minutes early and they took us right in. The medical assistant was pleasant and professional, even cracking jokes with my nervous child. Dr. Balachandar came right in, was lovely and personable, asked great questions and didnt judge me when my daughter said she had ice cream for breakfast. I cannot recommend Dr. Balachandar enough, if you have any endo concerns for your child. She runs an on-time office, is incredibly kind and patient, and has a staff that functions the same. They are all such gems and it made both myself and my son feel so supported. Also, not sure what the other poster's full experience was, but speaking as a parent with a neurodivergent kid, Dr. Balachandar (and her medical assistant) were both so wonderful with all of my kid's anxiety/nerves/triggers. My child had a diagnosed condition. Her former endocrinologist retired and Summit labeled her as a "new patient." This office refused to schedule an appointment any sooner than a full year out, although according to her PCP, she needs medical intervention within the next two months. Absolutely appalled by this practice and after the amount of time and money I've invested with Summit, that they are refusing to help a child who needs it now.

We have many doctors in our lives - due to one of my children being a pediatric brain tumor survivor and the other being neurodivergent- so our bar for doctors is set extremely high. Dr. Balachandar hit it out of the park for us. From the moment she came in the room - she was prepared, thorough, attentive and caring. I would not recommend Summit health in Berkeley Heights if you have a child with special needs and are looking for compassionate and warm service. As a parent of a special needs child when I schedule an appointment for my children, I am looking for not just a provider who has experience with cognitive or physical disabilities but a stuff who is just as considerate and accommodating it’s a whole package deal.
