I took a friend and her son who has severe ASD to the pediatric ER at Sacred Heart after the Ascension Urgent care on Hwy 29 and W street refused to see him because he is on Medicade even though they had seen him the month prior. I figured it was going to take all day but they got us in a room within 20 minutes and we saw a PA within about 10 minutes and we were out the door within another 30 minutes. Worst emergency visit ever: For starters it’s clear they get easily overwhelmed during after school hours and must be seriously understaffed. Our total time from arrival to discharge was roughly 4 and a half hours. We just wanted a simple urine test done to check for my child’s potential UTI. The doctor and nurses basically forgot to check back in on us, and when I went into the hall for an update they said the urine results had already come back (who knows for how long) but that the doctor couldn’t update us until he was do... read more
The radiology dept in Children’s ER could be a little faster but they may of just been backed up the night we had to go!
