If you’re constantly clearing your nose, struggling to breathe through it, or relying on mouth breathing, it may be worth seeing Dr Ryan Smith at Rush University Medical Center. I dealt with severe nasal blockage for years and had gotten used to the idea that it was just something I had to live with. Within a relatively short timeframe—from my first appointment to surgery and recovery—Dr. Smith diagnosed the issue and corrected it. The difference has been remarkable. I can breathe clearly through my nose again, sleep better,... read more
Breathing better thanks to Dr. Smith's work. He did a great job explaining his plan and what to expect. Definitely pleased.
Dr. Smith performed extensive female feminization surgery on me. I am pleased with the results and there were no complications. It was easy to work with the Rush system and my insurance, and I had breast augmentation there too, with another doctor. The only hassle was getting to the Rush campus many times near downtown Chicago, since I live outside Chicago.
Dr Smith operated on my nose back in March of this year. The procedure was: septoplasty and turbinate reduction. 9 months later, I can confidently say this surgery changed my life. I have never breathed better so consistently. He also has excellent bedside manner and made me feel at ease, especially before the recovery phase post-op which was rough.
Dr. Smith did my closed reduction and septoplasty procedure in May 2025 to repair a bilateral nasal bone fracture from a fall. Dr. Smith's bedside manner, patience, and surgical skill are extremely impressive. He is one the top 5 doctors I've ever met, and I've been a Rush nurse for almost 20 years. I'm fully recovered, and thankful every day to have been under his care. Thank you, Dr. Smith!
