Dr. Sandell was my mom’s family doctor and he refused to remove the cyst she had. She seen a different doctor in the ER and he removed it. She found out later if the cyst wasn’t removed, it would have turned to cancer. She spoke so highly of dr. Sandell but not anymore. Sad how these doctors keep us sick and injuries. This is discrimination.

The manager of the hospital try gaslight me because I’m exercising my rights to be seen by a doctor who truly cares. As far as I’m concerned, this town only has two doctors who go above and beyond for my people. A lot of us First Nations get discriminated by nurses and doctors who assume we are all drunks and drug users. In reality, that is a reflection of them and not us. A little something I learn from a native liaison about doctors. Doctors aren’t suppose to talk to you about anything but your medical condition. I made a recording from my last appt and I’m glad I did. I’m grateful for the native liaison who gave me the info needed. From what I know is she quit but I’m pretty sure VCH didn’t want her to give me too much information in regards to my appts. Maybe they gave her grief for helping me, but she did what was the right.
