Apparently, there is no intermediate step after hours between a “telenurse” and sending a student to the ER at RWJ. My son had a stomach ache. Nothing turned out to be seriously wrong, and he had no especially serious symptoms. Yep, now I’m looking at a total bill of about $13,000, of which insurance is only paying $10,000. Thanks so much, Rutgers Health. And BTW, parents, be aware that on a campus of tens of thousand of students, they aren’t even open to see kids on weekends. It is shameful that is a major university there is no medical center open for the students 24/7, but not even on Saturdays or Sundays.
