"Carpet Warehouse" first opened its doors in 1975 when Skip Esterbrook, whose parents owned Colby's in those days, started the flooring store. Local high school students Herb Lowe and Leigh Carroll came to work for Skip in the warehouse part-time after school. By the time second owner Don Russell purchased the store and added his name in 1980, Herb and Leigh, now graduated from Ridgefield High School, were moving into sales and installations. I can't say enough good things about Russell's Carpet, along with the quality of work, quality of carpet, and the customer service we received from Herb! Our family was on a tight deadline with a carpet replacement for converting an office to a bedroom. The matter was further complicated by us needing to treat the wood floor under the original carpet due to some foster kitty "accidents" in that room. Great selection!!
We’ve used Russell’s in the past for area rugs and they’re always friendly and have a great selection to choose from, so when we bought our home and needed to rip up old basement carpet we knew who to call! I was nervous about in person shopping and install because of Covid, and they couldn’t have been more understanding - sending photos and talking through selections then making sure we were the only ones in the showroom when we came to look at materials.
