I am extremely disappointed with the pediatric OT and SLP services at Rush Memorial Hospital. Based on my experience, the clinical approach used was outdated and did not reflect current neuro-affirming care standards. A 4-year-old child, who has since been formally identified as Autistic, was described in documentation as both “impulsive” and “manipulative.” These labels reflect a misunderstanding of neurodevelopmental differences.
