This Ruby's Diner found at the end of Balboa Pier is the chain's very first establishment. In 1982, owners Doug Cavanaugh and Ralph Kosmides transformed an old bait shop into a 40's diner complete with red booths and malt machine. Since then the duo has opened restaurants in more than five other states, where the kitchen serves burgers, dogs and other American diner classics. This original on the pier is no different, although the views are probably the best ones out of the group.
