About this business
Located in an area called the French Quarter, though the buildings are 19th-century gingerbread Victorians, not 18th-century brick Creole, Royal Thai is less ornate than its surroundings. There are a few pieces of Thai art on the wall, but otherwise only the excellent service and delicious Thai food are remarkable. The menu features sweet-hot marinated prawns, chilli-spiked pork as well as noodle dishes that are flavorful and well prepared. Crowded with locals, especially on weekends and for the priced-right lunch specials.

Good food in the San Rafael French Quarter Royal Thai has been a long time favorite of locals. It's certainly one of ours. Excellent traditional Thai dishes, with particularly tasty and fresh daily specials. The menu is extensive and consistently good. Lots of delicious vegetarian options. Anything in their basil garlic sauce is particularly good. Their larp appetizers are excellent. Make sure to try the brown rice. It's crunchy and wholesome; once you've had it, it's hard to go back. One of my favorites – I love Royal Thai! In my opinion the three things you must try are the Cigars (very thin fried eggrolls), the spicy chicken wings (they are out of this world - trust me) and the Green Chicken Curry. Everything else I've ordered has always been good as well but I don't think that I can go there and not get the above three items (well, at least the chicken wings & curry). They are that good.
