RecommendedMy mother has been a resident at Village Woods since 2018. She began in independent living and is currently in assisted living. We were very impressed with the facilities when looking to place Mom after my father's passing. The staff has been very accommodating and their care for her has been exemplary. Village Woods has been able to maintain zero COVID19 residents since the pandemic began. This is a remarkable achievement considering the horror stories at other long term care facilities. RecommendedThe staff at Village Woods is their greatest asset. They have made a difficult transition manageable and have helped our family member settle in and feel wecomed and a part of the community. We have been impressed by the care received & the precautions taken during Covid19 to protect their residents. Kudos to them! I would sincerely recommend Village Woods to others looking for senior placement.
My family and I are very disappointed in the lack of communication between the staff and family. To contact anyone on the rehab first floor was nearly impossible as the phone at the desk would ring and ring. Furthermore my mother in law is suffering from a terrible bedsore which we were never informed of until a couple of weeks ago. Had the proper care been provided, it should not have gotten this bad. RecommendedVillage Woods is set on a beautiful property overlooking Balmoral Woods Golf Course. Eating meals in the main dining room is an extra treat as you feel like you are staying at a resort. Mom is on an assisted living floor and she enjoys her private room. The aides and nurse come in quickly when mom rings for one, and being a fall risk, that is very comforting to know that she has that support. I would not recommend this facility. My Mom, although she did have underlying conditions, went to Victoria Village's rehab facility to recover from brain surgery. Her physical therapist, Dane, was unimpressive and in my opinion "gave up" on her because she had a long road ahead of her. We then asked for another therapist, Renata, and she was great. However, as my Mom was slowly recovering, she contracted Covid-19 from this facility. They did not protect my Mom. As a result, my Son and I had to say good by to her via a FaceTi... read more
If we had to choose over again, Park Place of St. John would not be the place we were choose. Our post stroke family member was in an acute rehab unit at a local hospital before being transferred to Park Place with the intent for him to continue with rehab and improve his abilities. That did not happen as he stayed the same / regressed from what he accomplished at the other facility.
